Lucky chewed out this word_7.12.13

Last weekend, in the middle of a baseball game, Mom and I flipped through the stations during a break, just to see what else was on — and ran across “Rocky Balboa” as Rocky gave his “That’s how winning is done” speech. I almost know it by heart; it’s one of my all-time favorites.

Interestingly, I stepped on a piece of paper yesterday that one of Mom’s love birds chewed off from a magazine (Lucky loves creating artwork) — and when I picked it up, there was the word “winning”…a perfectly ragged little word right there in front of me…

I placed it in my palm and stared at it for a long moment. It made me smile.

Sometimes God chooses to be creative with us as He whispers encouragement, even dropping direct words in front of us. Can’t you just imagine Him smiling as He waits for us to put the pieces of the puzzle together?

I don’t believe in coincidences. And I’m happy He used a little bird to get my attention this way. Not only because I love birds, but because now I know how Elijah might’ve felt the first time a raven flew by and dropped food in his lap. 😉 Fast food from God.

I hope you never stop trying to move forward in your life. Maybe you were working on a dream, or trying to get your health back, or maybe you’ve got that list from New Year’s Eve still sitting in front of you.

While you still have breath, make the decision to get back up and try again. Even if it’s the fourth or fortieth time. You’ve heard about all those success stories where goals were accomplished after setbacks and seeming failures, right? So, maybe those obstacles are to be expected; they help build strength and perseverance. Say, “Yes, life is difficult sometimes, but I’m not going to let that keep me from getting back up.”

As a fellow human being, I believe in you. More importantly, God believes in you. And it doesn’t matter if you believe in Him or not… He will always be right beside you, through thick or thin, no matter if you want Him there or not. Like a really, really good father, he’ll always be cheering you on. And although He may not remove all the obstacles in your way, you can be certain He allows them to help you win in the end. Go ahead… Listen… Take a chance and hear those whispers of His too…

“Get back up…”

“Keep moving forward…”

“That’s how winning is done…”

Here’s a link to the “Rocky Balboa” scene. It’s one of my favorites.
