Window-Gazing…

Lucky and Brodie looking out the kitchen window…

My mom’s two love birds are so sweet. And spoiled — as they should be. Sometimes I wonder what they’re thinking when they look out the window. I think animals/birds are so much smarter than some people give them credit for. We can’t explain that we’re not in Africa, where they’re from, and that if they left the house they’d probably get eaten by a falcon. Or die in the heat. Or starve to death. But you know they’d love their freedom. So we give them lots of love and attention, and as much freedom as possible. Most of the time, I think they’re too busy having fun to consider what the native outdoor birds are doing. But it makes you wonder…

Do you ever find yourself “looking out a window,” wondering what another life would be like at this moment? Somewhere else, somewhere out there, where you think life would be ideal? But … no matter where you would go, life isn’t ideal. Except what’s on the inside. If you have what matters on the inside, you can take that with you wherever… But there will always be challenges of some sort, little and big at different points in life. Because … that’s part of living. And that’s good…

You can still dream, and look out into the distance, and work to make your dreams reality. And you can be content right where you are. That’s not giving in to your circumstances. That’s giving in to living in the moment, making the most of the time you’re given here on this planet. Tomorrow will be here soon enough.

So go ahead and gaze out the window once in a while. I think it’s good for the soul…
