What To Do With Lemons…


“Start by doing what’s necessary, then do what’s possible, and suddenly you’re doing the impossible.” St. Francis gave us a great quote. And I used to think I could do all of that in one day. Ha! ; )

Well … okay. Some days it really is possible. But other days, no matter how hard you try, nothing goes past “what’s necessary.” So you just roll with it. It’s all fine. Everything somehow works out, even if it’s not your version of ideal.

Some call it “making lemonade out of lemons.” I like lemons. Especially organic lemons like those in this picture. You may not be able to make vegetable lasagna with them — or guacamole or a spinach salad, but you can make lemonade. Perfect on a day like today, with temps near 100 degrees. Or you can make lemon bars or lemon meringue pie or green beans with lemon sauce.

Each fruit has its own rewards. So, I say don’t rush St. Francis’ quote. Do what you have to do. In time, as you keep trying to get to what’s possible, along with what seems impossible now, you’ll be in a different season, with different, equally rewarding fruit. All in perfect season.
