A Gigantic Chinese Finger Trap

Life feels like being caught in a gigantic Chinese finger trap from time to time…

But I’m so glad feelings don’t always tell the truth. Feelings are often like trances that hold you captive, suspending you between your visions of a better life and the lie that forms over your life when you do nothing.

In part, the trick is to do the opposite of what you’re feeling. If you’re afraid, don’t run; if you’re angry, don’t react; if you’re desperate, don’t give up…

And when you feel trapped, don’t hyperventilate with worry and anxiety. Relax. Breathe. And as you relax in the exhale, you’ll work yourself free…

If you ever got stuck in a Chinese finger trap when you were a kid, you know exactly what I mean…
